Africa Movie Night

This month, the African Studies Center has organized the viewing of "Le spectre de Boko Haram", directed by Cyrielle Raingou (2023). The documentary will be in French and Hausa, with English subtitles. It unfolds in Kolofata, a village in the far north of Cameroon. The village is under permanent military protection that is intended to prevent the murderous incursions of Boko Haram from neighbouring Nigeria. Behind the peaceful pastoral appearance, the "spectre" of terrorism is always present. The filmmaker follows a group of children between 8 and 11 years old who have experienced terrible things but try to create a future for themselves.
